About this build

Honey Bee

Inspired by a bee colony that nested in our chimney, this build became an awareness piece as much as a sculpture. The anatomy is naturalistic - striped abdomen, fuzzy thorax, compound eyes - though the wings remain the hardest element to nail in LEGO. The layered-plate solution works; a printed transparent sheet with Technic rigging would be closer to the real membrane structure. Submitted to LEGO Ideas in April 2024. 916 pieces.
